Today, I discussed the importance of reading the stream, and rereading our work in Google Classrooms to make sure we are correctly completing assignments.  I also spoke about the Chancellor's upcoming student forum.  Students can send in questions and find information about joining at http://schools.nyc.gov/AskCRC.

As the weather is getting better, please remember to continue in our healthy ways of social distancing, wearing a mask outside and in stores, washing our hands and more.  It's still important so we can resume some activities in a safe way.

Tomorrow is Wellness Wednesday at the NYC Department of Education.  Can we commit to a healthy action or day?

Hope everyone had a nice weekend and belated Happy Mother's Day!  Today we discussed AP exams, the importance of family-school communication, how students should read the Google Classroom stream, and practiced Mindfulness to start the week!

Today, we discussed report cards being available on Friday, and how we use them to encourage students to complete work and celebrate student achievement.  I walked us through the Remote Learning tab on www.fdrhs.org, and encouraged students and parents to complete the Remote Learning survey.  This feedback will help us improve how we support students and families.

On Friday, we will have a family forum.  Look for more information about joining!

Today, we discussed the origins of Cinco de Mayo, way back on May 5, 1862!

We also spoke about Teacher Appreciation Week, and how my memories of my 7th grade music teacher still influence me today, both at FDR and in my family.  Thank you teachers; you have no idea the impact you have and will have in our students' futures.

Seniors, please keep on sending us your decisions so we can celebrate.

There will be a slight adjustment to Living Environment, Earth Science, Chemistry and Physics report card grades, as we no longer have the lab component.  Please remember that the 2nd marking period report cards are for progress only; it's an opportunity to improve and earn credits, and to keep up good grades.  Thank you for your understanding.

We will be having a parent forum on Friday morning.  Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions, listen and reconnect.  You should be receiving an invitation shortly and you will be able to participate on the phone or via video conference.

Today, I thanked teachers as we begin to celebrate Teacher's Appreciation Week!

We also discussed that May the Fourth be With You! a Star Wars reference for a series that started way back when I was in High School!  The third marking period is an opportunity for a fresh start.  Let's work together and earn credits.

Seniors, please email your college decision pictures to [email protected] and we'll post them on the webpage and other social media.  #FDRSeniors2020 are amazing!

Have a nice evening.

Today we discussed the need to pass all classes; they are all important!  We also spoke about College Decision Day today.  Can't wait to hear about where our Cougars are going to college!  We are also proud of students going to serve in the armed forces or into a career.  Visit fdrhs.org to see the pictures and learn where our Cougars are going

Today I discussed the end of the Marking Period tomorrow and report cards on May 1.  We also spoke about the 900 devices requested by our families and how many have arrived already!

As a reminder, we know that many students use social media.  It should only be used in a positive way; never to discriminate or harass.  That's not who we are at FDR and we know that it is always important to bring people up and not take them down.

Last, in honor of Poem in Your Pocket Day, I read my favorite poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost.  It ends

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

And it definitely has!

Good afternoon.  I hope you are all well.  Here is today's message:

Today, I discussed the different type of Outreach that families receive, and why it is so important to look at Remote Participation Grades and look into Google Classrooms to support your students.  You should also check report cards on May 8 on Skedula.

It is crucial for students to pass courses; there is no automatic pass.  Students need to earn credits.  Teachers and guidance counselors will be reaching out.  You can also contact your child's teacher and guidance counselors to find out what students may be missing.  We are all in this together.

Please remember that we do not have access to FDR yet due to New York State Pause.  When we do, and know how staff and students may pick up belongings, we will let you know.

Today we discuss the New York City Department of Education Remote Learning Grading Policy released by Chancellor Carranza.

Second marking period report cards will be available on May 8.  They will look similar to previous report cards.

Final report cards will be a bit different.  Students will either receive a number grade (65 or higher) or a grade of NX.  The grade NX means incomplete, or course in progress.  It is not a passing grade and does help recognize the extreme difficulties and challenges our students and families are facing during this pandemic.  We recognize that students should not be grades based on access to technology, and need to be given many opportunities to master course content.

Students will have to complete outstanding work identified by their teachers, or they will not earn credit for courses. This will be done over the summer, or in the fall.

Good afternoon.  I hope you all had a nice weekend.  Here is today's message

Please remember to fill out the student and parent Remote Learning Survey by clicking here.  I also discussed how we will be supporting students who will be taking AP exams in a coupleofweeks.

Good afternoon.  Today I discuss Earth Day, AP exams, classes for next semester, a 10th grade meeting tomorrow and our virtual graduation.

Hello everyone.  Today I discussed the importance of earning credits, especially with the NY State exemption from Regents Exams this June.

Good afternoon everyone and happy Monday.

Today, we learned that Mayor deBlasio has cancelled all non-essential large groups through June.  This means that unfortunately, we can't hold graduation or prom as originally planned.  I am so sorry, but safety is our priority.  We will plan celebrations for Class of 2020 when it is safe; don't worry.  We want to celebrate.

Good afternoon.  Today, I discussed graduation and how we are working to celebrate with you.  We want everyone to be healthy and safe.  Remember yesterday's announcement about PupilPath!

Today I spoke about the new Progress Reports we are starting in PupilPath.  They will be listed as Remote Learning Participation Report" in the Classwork, Participation or other grading section.  It will be on a scale of 5 to 1, with 5 showing the most progress, and 1 showing the need for immediate improvement.

Today, I share what we know about graduation, and about contents of gym lockers.  Don't worry, we are not throwing anything out.
