Science Research Academy
Program Code: K16F

Open to ninth grade students only

This program is designed to give students the necessary tools for the design and implementation of original research for citywide competitions. Students develop skills in research techniques, design and methodology, data analysis, and proper formatting of scientific reports. Students in this program will have opportunities for scholarship and additional enrichment programs.

 

 Environmental Studies Academy

 Program Code: K16C

Open to ninth grade students only

 Students will receive an understanding of the natural and urban environment through hands-on and project-based learning. Students will be prepared for careers in environmental science and emerging green industries. In addition, student will explore the real-world use of hydroponics and the importance of green living.

 



Multimedia Design Academy

Program Code K16E

Open to ninth grade students only

Students who choose this program will be prepared for careers in advertising, graphic arts, publishing, journalism, television, and film/theater. Students will use state of the art facilities including Mac labs, advanced photography labs, a black box theater and will be exposed to Adobe Creative Suite software and 3D modeling printers.

 

Robotics & Computer Programming Academy

Open to ninth and tenth grade students

Students will explore the field of robotic design using a variety of hands-on activities. Students begin with an introduction to the tools used to create robotic devices. As they progress through the series of classes, computer programming becomes an essential and vital element. This culminates in a capstone design project and Teaching Assistant Positions for students to mentor our incoming engineers. Our Robotics Academy offers opportunities for scholarships and research opportunities.

 

Performing Arts Academy

Our program aims to develop the students academically, artistically and socially so that they leave the school as responsible and creative young adults with a lifelong interest and ability in learning and the arts.

 

Technical Theater Academy - New Program!

Program Code K16G

This is a comprehensive program that is designed to expose students to the multiple functions that go into theater productions.  Courses include: stage design, theater business, theater management, and lighting/sound and design.  In addition to the annual spring musical, students may showcase their talents in SING, holiday and spring concerts.
