Department Overview
Welcome to the Visual Arts/Business Department.
We have many talented students enrolled in our Art Appreciation, Fashion, Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Computer Art, Photography, and Videography classes. Their creativity is expressed in so many ways through paint, watercolor, pen and ink, and clay with projects worthy of a lifetime keepsake. Students interested in learning the latest in digital photography and multimedia design create portfolios with skills highlighting composition and technical ability. Along the way, they self-assess their work, producing standards that are professional quality. Many of our students' works are entered into competitions with award-winning results. Our state-of-the art MAC Computer room and Photography Lab allow for high-level design projects using Adobe Photoshop. Students create business cards and logos among many other projects. Our shutterbug fans produce quality photographs digitally and in black and white and color, not to mention our videographers who see the world through a different lens. The Photography Darkroom to develop photographs is always an experience for our FDR Cougars. Our Art Club extends learning and creativity beyond the school day. For those students attending colleges and universities, teachers work with students to develop their portfolios required for entrance into Fine Arts programs. Woodworkers have extended their imaginations to include beautiful home accents and basic home repair. Our 3-D Modeling classes bring technology to a whole new level. Business students leave us with entrepreneurial and financial planning skills, not to mention application of Microsoft Office Suite, making them future business leaders in a global economy.
