What Is the Seal of Biliteracy and Why Is It Important?
The Seal of Biliteracy is an award that certifies full proficiency in two or more languages. It appears as a seal on your diploma, enhances your college and job opportunities, and includes a medal you can proudly wear at graduation.
Who Qualifies for the Seal of Biliteracy?
To qualify, you need 3 points in English and 3 points in a World Language (such as Spanish, Chinese, or any other language in which you demonstrate mastery in speaking, reading, and writing), for a total of 6 points.
When?
If you do not yet have the credits to qualify, you can complete a Narrative Project in English and translate it into your other language. To support you in the writing process, you may register for the Biliteracy elective class, offered three days a week.
